JUNIOR CAMP COUNSELOR

2008 Program

4-H Junior Counselors are a very important part of our total camp program. 4-H Junior Counselors are both givers and receivers of 4-H camp educational programs.  This is an opportunity for youth in 8th and 9th grade to develop their leadership skills and be an active participant in 4-H Junior Wildlife Stewards Camp

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set a good example according to camp objectives
  • Be a good, enthusiastic camper
  • Be punctual and attend all camp programs
  • Associate with campers instead of other counselors
  • Assist teen counselors ensure all campers follow camp rules
  • Never leave camp without permission from the Camp Director
  • Abide by all rules, policies, and procedures
  • Assist teen counselors ensure the safety of the campers
  • Sit at the head of the table at mealtime and assist with the orderly use of the dining hall
  • Assist teen counselors ensure that all campers participate in the daily fulfillment of cabin clean-up
  • Assist teen counselors facilitate campers personal hygiene, practices, and make sure campers are properly dressed for different activities
  • Seek adult staff help with difficult campers
  • In partnership with other junior counselors and Head Counselor , plan and organize the "Evening All-Camp" programs
  • Assist assigned camper group (5-6 campers) for campfire program which include skits, camp songs and other special presentations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed 8th grade by June 30, 2008
  • Must have completed the 4-H Junior Wildlife Stewards Counselor in Training Program
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Willing to participate in counselor training sessions
  • Love of the outdoors and a willingness and enthusiasm for sharing it with children

TRAINING AND CAMP DATES:

  • Application Deadline – May 1, 2008
  • Junior Counselor Arrival - Monday, July 28th at 1:00 pm Camper Arrival - Tuesday, July 29 at 10:00 am
  • Camper Departure - Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 2:00 pm
  • Junior Camp Staff Departure - Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 3:00 pm

TO APPLY:  The camp fee for Junior Counselors is $175.00. Download and complete your Junior Counselor Application  and your Camp Enrollment  and submit along with your $175.00 camp fee by May 1, 2008.  Selection for Junior Counselors will be made by June 15th.
