  • Exposure (Sun/Shade)
  • Orientation (North/South)
  • Wind
  • Rain Shadows
  • Microclimates

TOPOGRAPHY

  • Flat or Sloped
  • Cold Air Pockets
  • Wind Tunnels

VEGETATION

  • Existing Trees and Shrubs
  • Nearby Vegetation
  • Plant Evaluation
    (Keep or Move (Poor Location) Remove [Damaged, Ailing, Undesired, Invasive], Add)
  • School District guidelines (tree height, poisonous plants, etc)

WILDLIFE

  • What Can You Attract?
  • Provide Water (Bird Bath, Pond)
  • Plant for Wildlife (Food, Shelter, Nesting)
  • Provide Additional Habitat (Nesting Boxes, Materials, Feeders)
  • People/Wildlife Conflicts (Bee allergies/fears)
