HOW TO GET INVOLVED!

> Become a Member School > Sponsorship
> 4-H Wildlife Steward Volunteer   > Donations

If you have a passion and interest in any of the following:

  • Kids
  • Supporting our schools and teachers
  • Improving science literacy among youth
  • Bringing science and nature together at our schools
  • Improving the quality and quantity of wildlife habitats in our communities

then the 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program is a program for you! There are a number of ways you can get involved in the 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program. You can:

  • Become a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Volunteer
  • Enroll your school as a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member School
  • Make a donation to the 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member School
  • Become a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Sponsor

We are currently recruiting volunteers to become a 4-H Wildlife Steward. 4-H Wildlife Stewards are trained volunteers working in partnership with 4-H and local schools to assist students and teachers to create, use and sustain wildlife habitats on school grounds for science learning. 4-H Wildlife Stewards submit a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Application (PDF), complete the 24-hour 4-H Wildlife Stewards Basic Training Course and commit to provide a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service to a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member School.

You can also get involved with the 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program by assisting your school to become a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member School. 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member Schools are places where students can develop both their appreciation of nature and the outdoors and their knowledge about water cycles, food chains and biodiversity. 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member Schools provide a place for wildlife – from butterflies to songbirds – and a place where students can observe, study, and tack action to manage their own environment. Any principal, teacher, parent or interested community member can enroll their school as a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member School. School principal and school district approval is required. All interested schools must complete and 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member School Application (PDF).

You can also get involved in the program by becoming a 4-H Wildlife Stewards donor or 4-H Wildlife Stewards Sponsor. 4-H Wildlife Stewards donors support the program through financial donations. Funds are used to support scholarships for 4-H Wildlife Stewards Volunteers and teachers to attend education trainings and conferences, school mini-grants to purchase science supplies, education kits, and camp scholarships for 4-H Junior Wildlife Stewards Camp. Donors can specify if they want their donation to support a specific school or if they want their donation designated for a special purpose. All donations are tax deductible.

4-H Wildlife Stewards Sponsors are organizations, businesses, or individuals who would like to support the 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program by sharing a skill or expertise to 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member Schools, provide goods or services at free or at discount, or perhaps providing release time for your employees to volunteer at a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member School. The 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program encourages and welcomes community support and involvement. Contact the 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program to become a 4-H Wildlife Stewards Sponsor.

The 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program has something for everyone. Get involved today!
