NATIVE AMERICAN GARDENS

Native American gardens are used as a great teaching tool to show children how Native Americans used plants for everything. Some of these plants such as squash, potatoes, and corn can be used to show the traditional diet of the Native Americans. You can also include different plants that Native Americans might have used for medicine. Native plant gardens also give children a better understanding of how they can use the natural world in many parts of their lives, even today. If a crop doesn’t work out it can show the kids how dependent the Natives were on Mother Nature.
