WETLAND GARDENS

Wetlands are one of the biologically diverse habitats you can have. Many species use wetlands for breeding and feeding. Wetlands are formed when precipitation accumulates at a site. Wetlands can be great learning tools because of the variety of activities that can be done such as water quality testing, soil precipitation testing, plus identifying all the different creatures that use the wetlands. Many times creatures that would not normally be found in an urban environment can be found in these wetlands. You should also figure out whether your wetland is wet all year round or if it dries up in the summer months. One thing that is important to wetland species is the availability of shade. Many aquatic invertebrates need shade to keep the water temperature at a healthy level.
