Project Wild
6 hours minimum
Cost: $15.00

Come join us! Project WILD is an interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife. The goal of Project WILD is to assist students of any age in developing awareness, knowledge, skills, and commitment to result in informed decisions, responsible behavior, and constructive actions concerning wildlife and the environment. As with all good educational materials, Project WILD is concerned with providing good information, as well as helping students to evaluate choices and to make reasonable decisions. Project WILD’s mission is to help students learn how to think, not what to think. The instructional materials are designed to support state and national academic standards appropriate for grades K-12. The activities can be used to teach subject matter in science, environmental education, social studies, math, and language arts.

Each participant will receive the NEW and REVISED Project WILD curriculum and activity guide. This 528-page activity guide is filled with over 100 lessons and activities.

What can we learn at the habitat area pond?
Cost: $8.00 (includes curriculum)
3 hours

Science education can be improved by immersing learners in the process of using scientific knowledge to “do” science at their school pond and outdoor learning center. Informal learning environments are ideal settings for learners to practice skills necessary for scientific inquiry. In this workshop educators will explore how to coach learners in exploring cycles in science, such as the water cycle, carbon & oxygen cycles (photosynthesis), life cycles, and the seed-plant cycle. Activities are provided for the classroom and habitat area that encourage learners to ask questions about their world and support them in their search for answers.

Advanced Grant Writing – It all starts with a Good Idea
Cost: $5.00 (materials and handouts fee)
3 hours

The 4-H Wildlife Stewards Advanced Grant writing workshop is for any 4-H Wildlife Steward Volunteer or teacher who would like help writing and completing a grant application worth $1000 or more. We will cover the basics of what to include in grants worth $1000-$5000, common mistakes in grants, keys to ensure your success, and where to find funding sources. Participants in this workshop will actually write and complete a grant application and receive feedback from the trainers and other participants. Bring your laptop computer if you have one.

If you are interested in any of the above workshops please complete our 4-H Wildlife Stewards Advancement Training Interest Form. If we receive interest from at least 8 people who would be available for the same day, time and location, we will set up training and inform you.
