Pre-Course Requirements
(the following must be completed prior to starting the course)

Course Process and Requirements

  • Pre-Course Requirements: Trainees must complete a course 4-H volunteer application, program commitment form and an interview with their local 4-H staff.   Background History checks are conducted on all 4-H volunteers.  Your local 4-H office will provide you with the forms necessary for authorizing Oregon State University to conduct this check.  There is a $95  course fee which should be sent to the address listed above.  After these requirements have been met, trainees will receive a confirmation letter with a password and instructions on how to log on, their 4-H Wildlife Stewards Project Handbook,    4-H Wildlife Stewards Project Certification Handbook, DVD or VHS video series, and registration form for OSU graduate credit (for those who indicate interest in taking this course for credit).
  • Each module includes a short quiz and sometimes an on-line assignment. Trainees must correctly answer 80% of 5-10 multiple choice questions and fully complete each assignment. Trainees will also be required to participate in the 4-H Wildlife Stewards web course on-line discussion board each week.
  • Trainees must complete the course survey
  • Trainees only have to complete the modules they have not received through one of the 4-H Wildlife Stewards on-site trainings.
  • The instructor (Maureen Hosty) will inform them each time they have passed or completed a module. Trainees must complete the module again if they don’t pass.
  • Once trainees have successfully completed all the required modules they will receive a certificate of completion.
  • Trainees taking this course for professional development graduate credits must write a one page reflective paper on how they intend to incorporate the information and resources from this on-line course into their school setting.
